By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 19, 2003
High Point — Industry veteran David Yelverton has joined importer Universal Furniture International as vice president, sales administration, a new post.
Randy Chrisley, senior vice president of sales and marketing, said the move follows the consolidation of Universal's corporate offices and distribution center into a new 345,000-square-foot facility here.
"Our ongoing strategy is to fuel future expansion by not only offering exceptional product values but also by strengthening our retailer relationships with exceptional service," Chrisley said. "David will be responsible for reviewing all customer service procedures, as well as other sales management functions, and then directing continuous improvements to benefit our retailers."
Yelverton, who reports to Chrisley, has worked in sales and administrative management in the industry for 19 years, most recently at LifeStyle Furnishings International, the defunct holding company that once owned Universal. His career also includes stints with Maitland-Smith and Hickory White.
Universal is now a division of China-based Lacquer Craft.
