Jersey City, N.J. — Based on outstanding initial results, Cory Home Delivery Service has expanded its safety program.
In the summer of 2001, Cory launched its Safety First! campaign as a way to reduce claims and lower insurance costs.
Chief Executive Officer Joseph Cory Sr. said that during the insurance year beginning October 2001, the company reduced the number of accidents by 54%. For the first time in its history, in July 2002 the company had zero chargeable accidents in a one-month period.
The safety campaign is led by President James Cory, Raymond DeMilia, vice president of human resources, and Heather Gaedt, corporate safety and risk management specialist. The Safety Committee, comprised of executives, managers and independent contractors, works to reduce and eliminate claims by reinforcing a variety of safety issues with facility and delivery managers on a weekly basis.
By the end of 2002, the company expects a savings of nearly $200,000 in insurance premiums and accident-related expenses.
Cory is a family-owned and -operated business founded by Joseph Cory in 1934. It has become a major furniture transportation company, serving such clients as Rooms To Go, Ethan Allen, Thomasville Home Furnishings and Crate & Barrel.
