Dallas — The Home Furnishings International Assn. has begun offering its members an option for inexpensively developing an Internet presence. Called the HFIA Web Site Builder, the self-guided, step-by-step program promises a live Web site for as little as $20 per month.
The Web Site Builder is linked off of the HFIA home page at www.hfia.com.
"Many retailers are so busy doing the business of retailing, they put off projects like building Web sites," said Mary Frye, president of HFIA. "This program enables each HFIA member to enter the online world in a fairly painless way and begin enjoying the benefits of a Web site that tells their story in the best way."
The Builder is offered in a basic package priced at $19.95 per month, or an e-commerce package for $39.95 per month. Each requires a one-time start-up fee of $299, which covers domain name hosting, an online product showcase, traffic log statistics, and several design templates and colors to customize a site.
"With HFIA's site builder, we have constructed a professional looking Web site in a few hours, not months," said HFIA Board member Tom McMinn, owner of McMinn Furniture in Odessa, Texas.
He said the site "can be easily updated and kept current using our own staff, without any need for extensive training."
Based here, HFIA provides services to home furnishings-related businesses including retailers, interior designers and manufacturers.
