Menard sponsors sailboat race

Saint-Malo, France — French furniture manufacturer Ernest Menard got a lot of mileage from a recent promotion — more than 3,000 nautical miles, in fact.
Menard sponsored a 60-foot sailboat skippered by Frederic Lescot in the Route du Rhum 2002, a race from the French port of Saint-Malo across the Atlantic to the Caribbean island of Guadaloupe. It was the second time Menard had sponsored a boat.
According to Menard, more than 1.5 million people visited Saint-Malo in connection with the event, and it was widely publicized in France and internationally.
