Leland, N.C. — Leather seating importer Leather Italia-USA has moved into larger headquarters here, effectively tripling its warehousing capacity.
The facility includes 138,000 square feet of warehouse space and 20,000 square feet of office space. It will supplement Leather Italia's 108,000-square-foot site in nearby Wilmington, N.C.
The latter will continue to stock leather seating, while an adjacent 11.7-acre tract will be developed for another 250,000 square feet of on-site warehousing.
"Based upon our growth and our continued dedication to our retailers, it is important for us to have this additional space to support our growing demand," said Michael Campbell, president of Leather Italia.
In addition to inventory, offices and a showroom, the new Leland facility will have space for the company to offer an education and training program to its dealers and sales representatives. Participants will learn about business operations, including computer tracking, and leather hide and tannery procedures.
"It is a full-line education center offering a complete understanding about leather and our product line," Campbell said. The first session starts this month with 11 enrollees.
