Spring Air adds varied-height coils to luxury line

David Perry -- Furniture Today, December 1, 2002

Spring Air is expanding its ultra-premium ComfortFlex Collection with new models that feature coils of two different heights.

The system, supplied exclusively to Spring Air by German spring producer Agro, reduces motion disturbance between sleeping partners, Spring Air said. It is offered as the European ComfortFlex collection.

The system uses individually encased tempered coils of different heights in alternating rows. The rows of higher-profile, larger-barrel coils reduce motion disturbance while providing surface comfort and conformance to relieve pressure points.

As the body sinks into the mattress, it is met by the other rows of lower-profile, smaller coils that further support the body with special support for the lumbar and neck regions, according to Spring Air.

Spring Air officials said the new collection is the most conforming mattress unit on the market today. "It's a mattress that can set Spring Air apart," said Jim Nation, Spring Air president.

The six beds in the collection retail from $1,399 to $2,599. The collection was tested at three major retailers and "the response was overwhelming," said Randy Loebig, vice president of sales. Distribution of the new line is now being expanded.

The collection features Spring Air's foam-encased wireless edge, and is a NeverTurn, or single-sided, bedding line.

"We take the position of being the industry leader in innovation," Loebig said. "Our bedding portfolio of collections offers different technologies for different consumers."
