Sealy leading holiday food drive
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, December 1, 2002
Trinity, N.C. — Seeking to provide food for the needy, Sealy has launched a major drive to encourage area businesses to support The Salvation Army.
A number of bedding suppliers already have joined the effort, called the Triad Holiday Challenge.
Last year, the Sealy/Fox8 Holiday Concerts brought in 147,083 cans of food for The Salvation Army, helping to stock local food pantries. This year, Sealy wants to far surpass that number. The popular holiday concerts are set for Dec. 19 and 20 in Winston-Salem and Greensboro, and are free with a canned food donation.
Sealy President and Chief Executive Officer Dave McIlquham has challenged leaders of other large, local companies to collect as much non-perishable food as possible before the concerts begin. So far, 17 organizations have accepted the challenge.
The Triad Holiday Challenge is open to any company in central North Carolina and runs until Dec. 17 at noon. Sealy has divided companies into three divisions based on the number of employees participating. One winner from each division will be chosen based on the boxes of food collected.
Any Triad companies who wish to participate should contact Kris Kriofske at (336) 774-9229.
