Largo, Serta gallery unveiled

High Point — Retailers here got their first look at a metal bed and bedding gallery in two sizes that store designer Connie Post has created for Largo and Serta.
It's designed to showcase both products in fresh, natural settings. The galleries feature Largo metal beds, daybeds and futons, and bedding by Serta. The producers will provide design assistance to retailers who want to install the galleries.
Post's concept is called Retreat to Sleep. It uses pictures of nature, flooring that incorporates pictures of leaves, earth tones in carpeting, and sounds of running water to provide a calming, restful setting.
"It's about leaving the chaos of your world," said Post, chief executive officer of Connie Post Cos. "It's coming home to your sanctuary. It's a retreat to the private place where you sleep."
One gallery concept is 1,900 square feet, the other about 2,400 square feet. Both use risers and raised platforms to display metal beds — several fully dressed in short-rail configurations — making them more accessible to consumers. This literally "puts products on a pedestal," Post said.
