Carina adds solid-wood faces to papered cases

High Point — Ready-to-assemble furniture resource Carina matches solid-wood faces with paper-laminate cases in its new line of flat-pack furniture.
"We really do think this is a new way to make RTA," said President Stephen Wahrhaftig.
For its Altra brand, Carina introduced at the fall market office and entertainment pieces that hit the same price points — $299 for a computer armoire or a desk and hutch — but with the added appeal of solid-wood doors and drawers. The match between the wood grain and the pine-look laminate is close.
"We have to hit exactly the same price point because that's what our retailers need to promote, but with this innovation, they have more to promote," Wahrhaftig said.
