JCPenney
Plano, Texas — Two vice presidents responsible for furniture and bedding and nine merchandising executives were among those presented with the 2003 Chairman's Award at JCPenney.
Bob Price, vice president and merchandise manager for furniture and bedding at retail, and John Kendig, vice president and director of hard home for JCPenney Direct, were among 248 people cited for managerial excellence by Allen Questrom, the retailer's chairman and CEO.
Other home furnishings winners were Arthur Goldman, bedding buyer; Mike Sullivan, case goods buyer; Deborah Evans, product development manager, JCPenney Home Collection; Mike Kays, furniture buyer, JCPenney Direct; Don Cornish, divisional Internet manager, hard home; and Suzanne McGrath, senior buyer, decorative accessories. Other winners included Fred Simonsen and Jim Favors.
The company also saluted top suppliers for outstanding service during 2003. Spring Air received the divisional merchandising manager award, and Hillsdale Furniture won the JCPenney Direct award for hard home and the home division's quality award.
Sales
Regal Fabrics/Krelan Fabrics
Middleton, Mass. — Harvey Barnett Jr. has been named to represent Regal Fabrics and Krelan Fabrics to furniture manufacturers in North Carolina and Virginia.
Both companies specialize in imported jacquard upholstery fabric, Regal at the middle market price level, and Krelan, a division of Regal, at the higher end.
Barnett was with Sunbury Textile Mills for 18 years before taking time off for family needs a few years ago. He previously worked in design and merchandising for furniture manufacturers, including Pearson, Sherrill and Woodmark.
Bemco
Springfield, Ill. — The Bemco Mattress factory here has promoted Mike Nation from salesman to sales manager. He will oversee Bemco sales in Illinois, Indiana and Missouri.
Nation, with 40 years experience in the furniture and bedding industry, also has worked for Stratford and Spring Air.
Oakwood Interiors
Ontario, Calif. — James C. Mashore, Diane Mashore and Reggie Davis of Association of Furniture Sales in Edmond, Okla., has been named to cover Oklahoma for case goods producer Oakwood Interiors, based here.
The trio also represents wood furniture importer Alan Morgan in the territory.
Spradling Originals
Trussville, Ala. — Johnnie Burke has been named vice president of sales and marketing at Spradling Originals. He also will develop new markets for the company's braided fiber welt.
Also, Spradling has named Adam Fault sales manager, overseeing inside sales and product development.
Pam Moore has joined the company as a customer service representative.
