IHFC fabric exhibitors relocate

High Point — Five of the six fabric companies that previously were located in the International Home Furnishings Center have relocated for Showtime, although one will be missing.
Culp is showing in Showplace while its new building on Eastchester Drive is remodeled. Blumenthal and Microfibres will be at 333 S. Wrenn St., and Chambers Fabrics and Milliken have moved to the Resource Center at 329 S. Wrenn St.
Carpostan, however, said it couldn't find a satisfactory space in time.
"We just couldn't find what we needed," said Paul King, Carpostan's director of design. "We wanted to be in the Market Square Textile Tower, but there's no space available there, and we looked at some other space (in the Resource Center and the Fabric Center), but the square footage there was more than we needed.
"We didn't want to be in the temporary spaces for a couple of reasons," King said. "First of all, there's no privacy there really, and also we didn't want to deal with the walk-in traffic because we don't solicit that customer base.
"This will be the first time we'll be out of the show, but we hope to be settled in somewhere in time for the next Showtime in January," he said.
