Somerset, N.J. — Peter Bjerregaard, a veteran executive with a Danish shoe manufacturer, has been named president of Ekornes Inc., the U.S. unit of the Norwegian furniture producer.
He has held various sales and management posts with shoe maker Ecco since 1991. Most recently, he oversaw sales in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Earlier, he worked for Bang & Olufsen, a producer of audio and video equipment.
Bjerregaard plans to move to the United States this summer and will begin his new duties at Ekornes Sept. 1., filling a post that has been vacant since longtime Ekornes President Kevin McGuinness resigned in February.
"Peter is a wonderful fit for Ekornes," said Svein Lunde, international marketing director for Ekornes ASA, parent of the U.S. unit. In the U.S. market, Ekornes is best known for its upper-end Stressless reclining chairs. It also makes stationary and motion sofas, occasional tables and home theater seating.
