9 students win ITMA awards

High Point — Nine textile design students have received Virginia Jackson Design Awards from the International Textile Market Assn. Educational Foundation.
Fifty-eight entries from six participating schools vied for the awards, which are given in three categories — jacquard, print and dobby. Entries were judged on aesthetic form, ability to be manufactured and applicability to furniture.
First-place winners and their designs will be recognized at an awards presentation during Furniture/Today's Runway Fashion Show, 6:30–8:30 p.m., Monday, July 12, at Showplace.
Winners are:

Jacquard — First: Ziman Ahn, Philadelphia University; second: Vanessa Golestaneh, Philadelphia Univ.; third: Samantha Bittman, Rhode Island School of Design.

Print — First: Emily Kaplan, Philadelphia Univ.; second: So Hyun Park, Philadelphia Univ.; third: Lara Gibson, R.I. School of Design.

Dobby — First: Karyssa Miller, Kansas City Art Institute; second: April Lora Chambers, R.I. School of Design; third: Rachel Haight, Philadelphia Univ.
Other participating schools were North Carolina State University, Savannah College of Art and Design, and Syracuse University.
Judges were Agnes Brame, Golding Fabrics; Kim Grimsley and Allison Hocker, both of Craftex Mills; and Wesley Mancini, Wesley Mancini Ltd.
