Charlotte, N.C. — Logistics services provider Globe Express Services has opened three new offices in China to serve the furniture industry's growing reliance on imports.
The new offices in Shenzhen, Qingdao and Tianjin each employ several support staff. The Shenzhen office will be the documentation center for the company's Hong Kong and southern China network.
The other two offices will offer logistics support services for import and export activity in northern China.
The move was largely prompted by the company's efforts to provide logistics services to a growing number of Chinese furniture suppliers that have located in the north.
Globe Express offers such services as ocean and air freight forwarding, cargo management, documentation, customs brokerage and compliance, warehouse and distribution, and cargo insurance and claims processing.
It also offers Web-based global logistics visibility and supply chain events management.
Globe has been in China since the early 1990s and also has offices in Guangzhou, Taipei, Tianjin and Xiamen, plus a regional corporate office in Hong Kong that employs over 25 people.
"Our niche market is the Far East and China," said Karim Azar, manager of sales planning and coordination. "This is what we really concentrate on. We have other areas, but China is a niche market for us."
