Toronto — The Toronto Summer Furniture Show, set for Aug. 7–9, will kick off with the Retailer of the Year Gala honoring Bill Comrie, founder of The Brick, on Friday evening, Aug. 6.
Organized by the Ontario Furniture Manufacturers Assn., the three-day market will feature 42 permanent showrooms in and around the International Center.
Among the companies scheduled to participate are A.P. Inds., Décor-Rest, Dinec, El Ran, Hamilton & Spill, Jaymar, La-Z-Boy Canada, Magnussen Home, Simmons Canada, Superstyle, T&J, Therapedic/Crown Design and West Bros.
The market will overlap the semiannual show of the Canadian Gift & Tableware Assn., which will feature 1,100 exhibitors offering decorative accessories, accent furniture, bed and bath, tabletop and housewares. That show, which runs Aug. 8–12, will occupy all the temporary space at the International Center and the nearby Canadian Congress Center.
The Retailer of the Year Gala will be held at the new Pearson Convention Center in Brampton and will start with a reception at 6 p.m. Tickets are C$160 plus G.S.T.
Dealers are being offered their first night free if they stay for at least two nights at the Delta Toronto Airport West. To be eligible, retailers must pre-register with the OFMA. The hotel, on Dixie Road about 10 kilometers from the International Center, will charge C$119 plus taxes for the second night.
Retailers can register on-line at www.ofma.ca by clicking on the show logo. The deadline is July 16.
