MFA names John Bassett manufacturer of the year

Somerville, N.J. — John Bassett, president and chief executive officer of Vaughan Bassett Furniture, has been named 2002 Furniture Manufacturer of the Year by the Metropolitan Furnishings Assn.
The association saluted Bassett for his dedication to maintaining the production of furniture in the United States.
The award will be presented at a banquet on Oct. 1 at the Knoll Country Club in Parsippany, N.J.
MFA also will present a number of other awards at the banquet.

The Howard Liveright Memorial Award for outstanding contributions to the home furnishings industry will go to Frank O'Connor, retired.

The national Dean of IHFRA Award for contributions to independent sales representatives' objectives will be given to Tom Leflein.

James DeLisa of MSO Furniture in Wayne, N.J., will receive the Paul E. Gallagher Retailer of the Year Award for professional and ethical conduct between sales reps and retailer.

Harold Greenberg, representing Clayton Marcus Furniture, will get the E. Louis Billington Salesman of the Year Award for distinguished service to the industry.

As chosen by MFA's membership, Rich Fusco, a Lane/Action rep, will be the recipient of the Best Young Representative Award, and Kenneth S. Luthy, Suburban Furniture in Succasunna, N.J., will be presented the Best Young Retailer Award.
MFA, celebrating its 60th year, represents members of the furniture industry in New Jersey, including retailers, factory reps, manufacturers, transport and delivery companies, and support personnel.
