Bolick retires from Shadow Mountain

STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Charles H. Bolick, founder and chairman of rustic case goods, lighting and accents importer Shadow Mountain, has retired, turning over company ownership to President and CEO Chad Turney.
Bolick, former founder and president of upholstery manufacturer Alexvale Furniture, spent more than 40 years in the industry. He said he plans to spend more time with his family and enjoy life.
"This was in our long-range plans that at some point Charles would start phasing out of the company and eventually retire from the industry altogether," said Turney. He said he felt fortunate to have been associated with Bolick, whom he called "one of the most influential and kindhearted people I know in this business."
Shadow Mountain entered the bedroom, dining room and occasional furniture categories at the October market to complement its rustic lighting and lodge-style accent lines. It has moved to an expanded distribution center and offices here.
In April, it plans to introduce three collections in case goods and four in lighting.
