Culp co-founder Dunn retires
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 2, 2005
High Point — Howard Dunn, one of the founders of Culp and the fabric supplier's former president, has retired from management but remains on the board of directors.
Dunn, 67, was the company's vice chairman, a role he assumed in May when he stepped down from an 11-year stint as president and chief operating officer. Most recently, he has held executive responsibility for Culp's China operations and also has been involved in design and product development.
"Howard Dunn has been a great part of both the cultural and business development of this company for over 32 years," said Rob Culp III, chairman and CEO. "Our growth and success over the years speak directly to his leadership capabilities and his vision for Culp.... We accept Howard's decision to retire with regret but also with deep appreciation for his long service to the company."
Frank Saxon succeeded Dunn as president and COO in May.
"It has been a great privilege to work with someone with the talent, drive and integrity of Howard Dunn," Saxon said. "Our development as a company reflects his steadfast commitment to continually raising our standards of performance."
