TV's 'House Doctor' to make call during San Fran market
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 2, 2005
San Francisco — Interior designer Ann Maurice, the "brash American" on the popular British TV show "House Doctor," is coming home to give a talk at the San Francisco Winter Market.
On her TV sprogram, shown in the United States on BBC America, the California native transforms "for sale" homes into spectacular "sold" properties. In her talk at 2 p.m. Jan. 28, she will give a glimpse into the practice of home staging and will tell how it differs from interior design, and how to incorporate it into a design or retail business.
A former real estate agent in the San Francisco Bay Area who became an interior designer, Maurice introduced the concept of home staging in Great Britain in 1995.
Two years later, she became the BBC's "House Doctor" and has gained a following.
Admission to the seminar is $25 for San Francisco Mart members and $35 for non-members. Reservations are required. To RSVP, call (415) 437-7100 or e-mail seminars@sfmart.com.
