Platina-Phipps firm partnering with trim makers
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 9, 2005
High Point — Jana Platina-Phipps is launching Home Couture Collective, which she describes as an agent and creative services department for small manufacturers of trims, fabric flowers, leather trims and glass buttons.
The New York-based company is exhibiting in the Suites at Market Square, space 1-460, at Showtime here this week.
Instead of joining the fray of trim businesses fighting over market share with low prices, Platina-Phipps is working with Gelberg Braid and five other vendor partners to concentrate "on high-quality, beautiful and distinctive items. Our collections complement one another and their products will get designers to use their imaginations — picture an oversized brocade rose adorning a curtain, or vintage buttons dangling from the arm of a chaise."
Platina-Phipps was creative director at Gelberg Braid for eight years and built its home furnishings business.
