Las Vegas — The World Market Center here has hired two people to lease and manage its temporary space, recently tripled for the initial furniture market in July.
Lois Richards was named leasing manager of temporary exhibits, and Michele Wayne appointed leasing associate of temporary exhibits. Both have extensive trade show backgrounds.
Richards most recently was national director of the sales and marketing team for Edlen Electrical Exhibition Services and Conference Planners.
Wayne most recently served as director of marketing for the Las Vegas-based trade show of the National Assn. of Tobacco Outlets.
Wayne reports to Richards, who reports to Babs Blair, WMC director of leasing.
In October, WMC shifted its first market dates to July 25–29 in order to secure the Las Vegas Convention Center for 630,000 square feet of temporary exhibition space, in addition to the 350,000 square feet at its on-site World Pavilions area.
That pushed up total permanent and temporary space to 2.3 million square feet. All of the permanent space is leased and, to date, roughly 40% of the temporary space has been committed to some 175 companies, Blair said. Ultimately, she said, the temporary areas likely will hold 300 to 400 companies in spaces ranging from 100 to 15,000 square feet.
