Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, May 27, 2009

HIGH POINT — A new exhibit area that traces the history of the furniture industry in High Point was unveiled last night at the High Point Museum.
Cutting the ribbon at the High Point Museum’s new furniture industry exhibit are Champ Land, left, president of manufacturer Troutman Chair; Ellen Denker, director of the exhibit; Carol Young, chairman of the museum’s board of trustees; and Furniture/Today Publisher Joe Carroll, who’s also a member of the board of trustees.Cutting the ribbon at the High Point Museum’s new furniture industry exhibit are Champ Land, left, president of manufacturer Troutman Chair; Ellen Denker, director of the exhibit; Carol Young, chairman of the museum’s board of trustees; and Furniture/Today Publisher Joe Carroll, who’s also a member of the board of trustees.

The exhibit, titled High Point's Furniture Heritage, occupies the entire lower level of the museum - slightly more than 40% of its total gallery space. It features a variety of historic photographs, documents, video, machinery and other objects, and includes several hands-on activities.

Starting today, the exhibit is open to the public during the museum's hours, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The museum is at 1859 E. Lexington Ave.
