High Point — The High Point Showroom Assn., in conjunction with FFi magazine, is hosting an "Event for Designers" Feb. 22–24, with about 30 member showrooms expected to participate.
The showrooms will offer discounts to interior designers and their clients. The event also will feature four CEU-accredited seminars on Feb. 22 and 23.
Kathryn M. Ireland, of Kathryn M. Ireland Design & Fabrics, will speak on "Designing for the Demanding Client," and Greg Furman, president of the Luxury Marketing Council, will speak on "How to Achieve Best Marketing Practices in Reaching an Increasingly Value-Driven Best Customer."
Betty Lou Phillips will speak on "Adapting French Interiors," and Brian Coleman, author of "Scalamandre," will speak about the U.S. manufacturer of fine fabrics.
Organizers anticipate between 100 and 150 attendees from around the country.
"We're really excited about this event," said Ginny Ratchford, 2005 HPSA president. "We're trying to get designers more comfortable coming to High Point and more familiar with what we have to offer."
HPSA officials hope it becomes an annual event, allowing high-end manufacturers to sell market samples and other products, maximizing the use of their High Point spaces between markets.
Judy Mendenhall, president of the International Home Furnishings Market Authority, believes the event could be a good way to generate more year-round traffic in High Point. To register for the event, call (651) 293-1544 .
