Former Spring Air companies in Chapter 7 bankruptcy
Consolidated Bedding, affiliates to liquidate
David Perry , Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, June 2, 2009
WILMINGTON, Del. — Consolidated Bedding and its affiliated entities, which operated as Spring Air across the country, have filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation here. The companies separately filed a total of 20 Chapter 7 petitions in U.S. Bankruptcy Court here.
The filings, made Friday, include only limited financial information. As part of the filing, the companies say they have sold substantially all of their assets and ceased their business operations.
The filing is not expected to affect the plans of a new company, Spring Air International LLC, to relaunch the Spring Air brand, industry observers say.
Spring Air shut its nine corporate-owned plants in early May. Since then the company's three domestic licensees have continued to operate, as have two licensees in Canada.
