Vegas discount hotel rates set

Rooms start at $52 for inaugural market

By Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, January 30, 2005

The World Market Center here has negotiated hotel room rates starting at $52 a night for its inaugural furniture market in July.

The market so far has arranged blocks of rooms with 11 hotels, with rates ranging from $52 at the Sahara to $169 at the Bellagio.

At least four hotels should be added soon, including the Wynn Las Vegas, which the WMC described as "the most anticipated and luxurious property set to open on the Las Vegas strip this spring."

The rooms are being held for July 22 through July 31 — the market dates are July 25–29 — and the WMC is encouraging attendees to book early.

The rates will not fluctuate through that period and no minimum stay is required.

Attendees will not be charged at booking, but upon check-in.

An Internet search for room availability for the April High Point market showed many properties in the area requiring full payment, or payment for one night or more, at booking time. Most rates per night were well over $100.

"From budget accommodations and non-gaming hotels to the most luxurious suites in the world, we have designed a hotel roster to ensure we have something that will suit every budget and satisfy even the most discriminating tastes," said Briana Mackey, WMC director of market operations.

"We selected these properties because they have incredible onsite amenities, such as world-class restaurants, convenient business centers, luxurious pools and spas, and free parking," she said.

"The savings are significant, especially on the luxury properties, where buyers will benefit from discounts as high as 30% to 40%," said Dana Pretner, WMC director of marketing and public relations.

A check of Bellagio's Web site showed the lowest-priced rooms ranging from $199 to $299 depending on the day of the week. The WMC straight rate represents a 15% to 43% savings, again depending on the day of the week.

As market gets closer and hotels increase their rates, "our fixed rates will prove to be significantly discounted — as much as 50%," Pretner said, adding the WMC has 25,000 room nights set aside in its initial block and has access to thousands more.

Rooms can be booked through the WMC's real-time reservations system at its Web site, www.lasvegasmarket.com. WMC has partnered with travel and housing provider ITS.

On the Web site, a map showw the location of each hotel relative to the market complex.
