Michael Payne designing rugs for Foreign Accents

Line will be introduced later this year

Gary Evans -- Furniture Today, June 12, 2009

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Michael Payne is now designing rugs.

Payne, original host of the long-running HGTV series "Designing for the Sexes" and author of the interior design book "Let's Ask Michael," has been retained by contemporary rug company Foreign Accents to develop a new line of area rugs.

Rugs in the Michael Payne Home Collection will be hand-tufted in Favriel, Foreign Accents' signature modified acrylic yarn that has a wool-like hand, according to the company.

The new collection will be shown at the Las Vegas Market in September and the High Point Market in October.

Trish Rempen, Foreign Accents president and CEO, said the partnership "is a natural fit," given Payne's clean, contemporary designs and his association with other contemporary home furnishings companies that include Lazar Inds., Johnston Casuals and SIS Covers.
