High Point — Whitewood Inds. has hired Matisha McKinnon-Stewart as an assistant to the manufacturer's vice president of marketing, Carla Mata-Sprinkles. McKinnon-Stewart also will head graphics production.
Mata-Sprinkles said the success of the company's John Thomas Collection has necessitated more resources in the marketing department. McKinnon-Stewart previously worked with a publisher of church directories and a stained glass overlay company.

JCPenney
Plano, Texas — Steve Dinkins has joined department store JCPenney as bedding buyer. He most recently was with Gabberts in Minneapolis as a furniture and bedding merchandiser, and earlier was with Federated Department Stores.
Dinkins reports to Bob Price, vice president, merchandise manager, furniture and bedding, and succeeds Arthur Goldman, who left Penney last year to join Federated.

Greenville, S.C. — Cesar Pagan has joined rug resource 828 International Trading as director of styling and design, responsible for developing designs for hand-knotted, hand-tufted and machine-made rugs.
He formerly was vice president of styling and design at Karastan, and his career spans more than 40 years, embracing both residential and commercial sectors of the soft flooring business.
Pagan spent over 10 years at Karastan, where he initiated all aspects of rug design from concept to completion. He retired from Karastan in 2002.

Leland, N.C. — Craig Spafford has joined importer Leather Italia USA as director of customer relations and support, and will direct inside requests and support systems. He has over 25 years experience in customer relations and sales.
Also, Janet Reed has joined the company's accounting department as executive assistant. She has more than 20 years experience in accounting.
Both report to President Michael Campbell.
Michael Graves & Associates
New York — Frank de Biasi has been named senior director of interiors for architects Michael Graves & Associates.
De Biasi previously worked for Peter Marino & Associates, Architects, for 12 years, becoming head of interior design.
At Michael Graves, he duties include furniture design for the company's Interiors Studio.
