Vegas show at Sands looking for more space
By Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, February 6, 2005
Las Vegas — Operators of The Las Vegas Furniture Show scheduled this summer at the Sands Exposition Center here have released a list of signed exhibitors, and say they hope to boost exhibit space by more than 40%.
The market, which is set for July 26–29, overlapping the first World Market Center show, had 27 exhibitors as of Jan. 20 and was holding space for another 56, said Stephan Phelps, president of show manager Triad Expositions.
Companies signed include Catnapper, Emerald Home Furnishings, Lifestyle Enterprise, Orleans, Sklar Peppler, Spring Air and Stanton Furniture.
The show has secured 390,000 square feet and is considering adding another 165,000 if it can get the space and has the demand.
Phelps said some suppliers requested larger spaces than the organizers had expected. Some of the largest will include Emerald's 22,000 square feet and more than 15,000 square feet for Lifestyle.
"Our space is almost gone and we are getting new inquiries daily," Phelps said. "Almost a third of the entire space was taken by five companies."
Earlier, he projected 125 to 150 exhibitors would fit into the initial show space. As it stands now, he said, the current space could be sold out with as few as 50 to 100 exhibitors. But he expects the show will have more than 200 exhibitors, if it gets the added space.
With the tenants expected at the World Market Center and the WMC's Las Vegas Convention Center venue, the July Las Vegas home furnishings markets could have some 800 to 900 exhibitors in more than 2.6 million square feet of show space.
Other exhibitors confirmed by Triad Expositions are Art and Mind, CDC Inds., Comfor-Pedic, Davis International, Dreamlounger, Glass Form Production, Golden Eagle, Gomen Furniture and Graphics International, Kiira Designs, Leather Designs, Milano Furniture, New Dimensions, Passion Sofa, Perdues, Rattan Specialties, RMI Furniture Imports, Skinner Furniture, Skyline Furniture and Trica Furniture.
