STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Dixie Seating has moved into a larger plant here to increase capacity and improve quality.
The company, which has been in this city for more than 60 years, manufactures rocking chairs, steam-bent ladder-back chairs and barstools for adults and children. At about 50,000 square feet, the new location is 30% bigger than the old plant, said President Dirk Baker.
"Our new facility will allow us to continue our growth and will provide a more flexible and automated facility to continue our efforts to compete on a world-class level," he said."Included in the new facility will be improvements to all facets of the operation, including component manufacturing, assembly, finishing and shipping. We have more than doubled our capabilities … and believe we will be well positioned to improve our service to our customers," he said.Dixie, a division of the Emerson Group, has shown at the High Point market and the unfinished furniture show. Baker said the company hasn't yet decided which shows it will attend this year.
