Founder Gordon exits Restoration

Corte Madera, Calif. — Stephen Gordon, founder and chairman of retailer Restoration Hardware, has resigned to become CEO of Sundance, the retail division of the brand founded by actor and filmmaker Robert Redford.

Gordon, who founded Restoration in 1980 with a catalog and retail division, wrote much of its quirky catalog copy.

Gary Friedman, who joined the retailer from Williams-Sonoma in 2001 as CEO and president, also will serve as interim chairman of the board.
