Las Vegas — Yolanda Obando has joined the World Market Center here in the new position of international marketing and services manager.
She will work to promote WMC markets overseas and attract international buyers. She also will assist international attendees with registration, visas and hotel accommodations.
"We are pleased to have someone of Yolanda's caliber and diverse capabilities join our team," said Dave Palmer, WMC general manager.
Obando previously was with the International Home Furnishings Center in High Point, where she had been director of international services since 2000. The IHFC eliminated her position last fall, assigning her duties to others in its marketing department. Obando also handled hotel reservations for international visitors to market, a task now filled by the High Point Market Authority, according to IHFC CEO Bruce Miller.
The WMC plans to have an international buyer lounge with resources such as multi-lingual materials, docents and translators. Obando will work with existing WMC staff to develop and manage the center.
