Atlanta — Sauder Woodworking and sister company Studio RTA exhibited at the Craft and Hobby Assn.'s Annual Convention and Trade Show here earlier this month.
Sauder featured its Crafts Center collection, designed to serve the needs of a wide range of hobbyists, from scrapbooking to sewing.
Two pieces in the collection debuted at the CHA Show — a multi-function armoire with full extension slides, extra workspace and a power strip for convenient electrical access; and a sewing/craft cart with two storage bins, a hidden shelf for a sewing machine and a heat-resistant melamine top.
In addition, Sauder showed about a dozen prototypes, including craft carts and a variety of modular craft pieces in a new Caramel Birch finish.
In a separate booth, Studio RTA displayed a variety of easels, draft tables and desks in several configurations and styles.
"Sauder recognizes the growing demand for space-saving, multi-purpose furniture to answer the precise needs of crafters and other hobbyists," said Susan Dountas, vice president of merchandising for Sauder. "We're dedicated to designing and supplying innovative, practical and stylish products that offer ample work and storage space."
The company entered the hobby and craft furniture arena in 2003, and previously exhibited with Studio RTA, a longtime supplier to art supplies retailers and distributors, at last year's Hobby Industry Assn. show in Dallas.
