Transportation meeting set for April in Florida

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — The International Furniture Transportation and Logistics Council will hold its annual conference for managers at Lago Mar Resort and Club here April 27–29. The theme is Meeting the Furniture Transportation and Logistics Challenges of 2005.
Sessions will focus on such topics as finding adequate carrier capacity to move furniture during the peak shipping season ahead; high performance warehouse and delivery operations; using railroad inter-modal service to a company's best advantage; avoiding legal problems when dealing with transportation brokers and third parties; what changes to expect in federal hours-of-service rules; import problems including port congestion; and what specialized furniture and home delivery carriers are doing to respond to the industry's changing transportation and logistics needs.
More than 100 furniture transportation and logistics professionals from U.S. and Canadian furniture manufacturers, retailers and carriers specializing in serving the industry are expected to attend.
