Haskey given buyer award
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 27, 2005
Tupelo, Miss. — Elaine Haskey, upholstered furniture and area rug buyer for retailer Steinhafels Furniture in Waukesha, Wis., received the Tupelo market's National Furniture Buyer Appreciation Award.
She is a member of the third generation of the Steinhafel family to work in the 71-year-old company, which employs more than 500 people.
Annual sales have quadrupled in the past dozen years since the retail chain expanded its offerings from high-end goods to midpriced and lower-end furniture. Sales in 2005 are expected to top $100 million.
Haskey, who has worked for the company since 1986, said Tupelo has become her favorite market because of such things as a nice staff, free parking and plentiful bargains.
