Guadalajara, Mexico — A group of case goods producers from the northern Mexico state of Durango will travel to China in mid-March to investigate sourcing components there.
"We're going to search for components so we can complement our own manufacturing to be more competitive, both in the domestic market and in supplying the U.S. market," said Blas Garza, CEO of case goods manufacturer Galleria, which will participate in the trip.
He said key issues for the Durango group include minimum order quantities and exclusivity.
Bancomex, a government export bank assisting Mexican manufacturers seeking to build business abroad, and the State of Durango are sponsoring the 10-day trip.
Five to seven furniture manufacturers are expected to participate. They will attend the International Famous Furniture Fair in Dongguan, China, set for March 17–21, then visit furniture and components manufacturers in the region.
