Knoxville retailer raises $100K for local hospitals

Farragut, Tenn. — Tim and Robin Harris invited the folks of Knoxville into their new home.
As the owners and operators of Knoxville Wholesale Furniture, they wanted to show their friends and neighbors how their store's selection of midpriced furniture can create a designer home. They also wanted to support a good cause.
Working with key vendors, the Harrises, who operate Knoxville Wholesale with Tim's brother Daniel, hosted The House of Dreams program to support the Baptist Health System Foundation hospitals in East Tennessee.
The 16-day event raised more than $100,000 for the hospitals' Center for Spiritual Care and the David H. Waller, M.D., Memorial Endowment Fund for women's services.
Knoxville Wholesale, TV station WVLT and radio station B97.5 were the primary sponsors. Visitors to the Harris home paid $10 for a tour.
The new brick home was furnished by Knoxville Wholesale with the support of 12 vendors that provided room settings from their top collections.
These included Laura Ashley's Cotswold collection; Hickory White's Kings Road; product from Pulaski; Young America by Stanley; the National Geographic Home collection from Lane; Hooker's Seven Seas collection; The Meridian collection for home office from Riverside; Huntington House upholstery; Nourison's 200 collection of rugs; LeatherTrend upholstery; Durham case goods; the Grand Savannah collection from Bernhardt; and Simmons' Beautyrest bedding.
"We were just tickled to death to be able to do this for Baptist," said Tim Harris. "The Baptist hospitals do so much good in our community that it seemed like a small gesture on our part to open our home and help out."
