City Furniture honored for charity work

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 13, 2005

In honor of its charitable activity, City Furniture has been named the Outstanding Corporation by the Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter of the Assn. of Fundraising Professionals.

City also won the group's Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Julia Tuttle Award for Community Involvement and Corporate Citizenship.

"Everyone at City Furniture is very honored by these awards," said Keith Koenig, CEO of the Top 100 furniture store chain. "We give because it's the right thing to do. This community, our employees and our customers have contributed so much to our success. Giving back is one way to say 'thank you.' "

Among the numerous beneficiaries of City's generosity are the Habitat for Humanity, the Ronald McDonald House and the local Museum of Discovery and Science, where Koenig has been a board member for more than 20 years.
