Butera opens home store, plans more

Los Angeles — Designer, manufacturer and retailer Barclay Butera has opened the first Barclay Butera Home store in Newport Beach, Calif.
The 2,900 square-foot-square showroom is a companion store to the 11-year-old Barclay Butera Collection showroom in Newport Beach and is the first of five new stores projected for this year.
Another BBH store is planned for the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, Calif., in March, and the third will open in Los Angeles in the second quarter. Two other locations are in the planning stages.
BBH showrooms offer the Los Angeles-based Butera's dedicated brand of furnishings and accessories. He has a nationally distributed line of custom upholstery called Barclay Butera Home (formerly Butera Home Furnishings) and — responding to requests, he says — eventually will add his own home accessories to the mix.
The company said the BBH showrooms will have a clean and open presentation. The goal is "transitional, timeless elegance," Butera said. "Less product and more statement pieces allow the customer to appreciate the quality and lines of my pieces."
Existing Barclay Butera collection showrooms include an eclectic blend of designer lines of furnishings and accessories, including Ralph Lauren, Baker, Henredon and Barclay Butera Home.
All the stores will be open to the public and the trade, except for the Pacific Design Center unit, which is open to the trade only.
Haleh Fardi, chief financial officer of Butera's company, said the new BBH division strengthens the message of the Barclay Butera brand.
"While we and our clients love the mixed aspect of the collection showrooms, being able to focus on the beauty and quality of the shapes and fabrics of Barclay's individual pieces in a simpler setting is a great opportunity," Fardi said.
In addition to Newport Beach, there are Barclay Butera Collection showrooms in Los Angeles and in Park City, Utah. The Barclay Butera Home line is distributed to 300 retailers nationwide, as well as to the Barclay Butera Home showrooms.
