5-story showroom planned for High Point

Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, March 13, 2005

Mississippi furniture executive Scott Berry has announced plans to erect a five-story showroom building here on South Main Street across from the Radisson Hotel.

The building, to be known at Windows On Main Street, will have a neoclassical-inspired design that includes balconies facing Main Street from the second and fifth floors and a rotunda on the top floor.

Ivan Garry, a High Point real estate broker who is overseeing leasing for the building, said each floor will have about 10,000 square feet of showroom space. Berry's company, Mississippi-based importer T.S. Berry, will occupy the fourth and fifth floors, Garry said.

"We're very excited about this project. It's going to be a beautiful building in a great location," he said.

Garry said two buildings currently on the site at 126 and 128 South Main will be demolished after the October market. The new building is scheduled to be open for the October 2006 market.

He said he believes Windows On Main will be attractive to manufacturers seeking greater visibility and greater control of their showroom. Mercer & Tye Architecture of High Point is designing the building.
