Fortune recognizes Simmons as one of the top workplaces

Atlanta — Simmons again has been named to Fortune magazine's list of "The 100 Best Companies to Work For." In fact, the bedding major is an even better place to work this year, its ranking suggests.
Last year, Simmons made the elite list at the No. 100 spot. This year, Simmons has moved up seven notches to No. 93, between Harley-Davidson and Publix Supermarkets. It is the only mattress producer on the list. The magazine typically considers more than 300 companies in compiling the list.
"This honor is one of the most meaningful for a company because our associates complete a survey that reflects their spirit and enthusiasm, their dedication to our customers and our philosophy of doing business," said Simmons Chairman and CEO Charlie Eitel. "It is particularly gratifying that we have now made the list twice, in two consecutive years, and that we have moved higher up in the rankings."
Fortune's selection is based on answers to a survey randomly distributed to company associates. The magazine also evaluates a company in the areas of culture, compensation and benefits, work-life balance programs, opportunities for individual growth, job security and pride in the company.
Simmons officials said their company's inclusion on the list provides a positive affirmation of its strategic direction.
Almost five years ago, under Eitel's leadership, Simmons initiated what it called "a dramatic change process" led by Simmons management from across the country. The acronym C.H.O.I.C.E.S. evolved as a statement of the company's values, standing for Caring, History, Opportunity, Innovation, Customers, Empowerment and Support.
Simmons recently adopted a new corporate philosophy of "Changing Lives Night After Night," based on the belief that by constant innovation and in-depth consumer research Simmons will help consumers sleep better and lead more productive and fulfilling lives.
"We continue to grow and expand upon these initiatives to assure that Simmons continues to have a dynamic workplace that offers our associates the ability to learn, grow and excel, both personally and professionally," said Rhonda Rousch, executive vice president of human resources.
"All our 3,000-plus associates across the Simmons network share a great sense of pride in being recognized by Fortune as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For."
