IOPFDA

Alexandria, Va. — Jim McCarry has stepped down as president and chief operating officer of the Independent Office Products and Furniture Dealers Assn., parent of the Office Furniture Dealers Alliance and the National Office Products Alliance.

McGarry had served as president since 1997. He leaves to become vice president of KnowledgeBank, a northern Virginia-based human resources and organizational development consulting firm.

Former IOPFDA Chairman Evan Morris will serve as interim president until a permanent replacement is found.

Hettich Holding

Alpharetta, Ga. — Dr.Andreas Hettich has been appointed a joint managing director of Hettich Holding GMmbH & Co.

He joined Hettich Group in July 2000 as a management assistant. In 2001, he was named a managing director of Hettich Management Service.

J&J Furniture

Frederick, Md. — Julie Hershey has been named merchandise director for J&J Furniture here.

Her responsibilities include all buying categories for two Bassett Furniture Direct stores in Maryland, as well as for retailer Gladhill Fine Furniture in Middletown, Md.

Hershey reports to Jim Nicholson, president and owner of J&J Furniture.

Guardsman

Grand Rapids, Mich. — Dave Hazlett has been named to the new post of director of business development for Guardsman, a furniture care products supplier and a business unit of Valspar.

He will be responsible for customer relations with all accounts, as well as developing new furniture care products and repair products, and finding new applications for existing products. He reports to Kate Bass, vice president of Valspar's Furniture Solutions Group.

Most recently, Hazlett was general manager, Commercial Identification Business.
