Chrisley replaces Dondero at Universal
HIGH POINT -- Full-line supplier Universal Furniture announced today it has promoted Randy Chrisley to president and CEO, replacing Harvey Dondero, who resigned to pursue other career interests.
Chrisley, a 35-year industry veteran, joined Universal in November 2001 as senior vice president of sales and marketing.
"Harvey has made significant contributions during his years with Universal and we wish him and his family all the best in their future," said Samuel Kuo, founder and owner of Universal's parent company, Lacquer Craft. "Throughout Randy's tenure with Universal he has shown tremendous leadership and insight. I am extremely confident that, through his guidance, Universal will be even more successful and innovative."
Mohamad Amini, Lacquer Craft's president, also expressed optimism.
"Randy has a keen understanding of Universal's current strengths in the marketplace, a clear vision for the company's growth and an enthusiasm for new opportunities," he said.
Chrisley said Universal's management and sales team will help the company continue growing.
"Universal's product success at retail is threefold: great designs, precise execution and focused business strategies that allow us to exceed retailer and consumer expectations," he said. "Our company continues to retain strong retailer response and our April 2005 market will introduce a whole new dimension to our product offerings."
Lacquer Craft recently opened a 4 million-square-foot dedicated manufacturing and warehouse facility in Shanghai, China. Universal's product line includes case goods, occasional, home theater and upholstered seating.
