Davis launches Italian leather warehouse company

Greensboro, N.C. — As president and owner of newly created Luke Leather, Scott Davis is doing what he knows best: sell midpriced Italian leather upholstery from a warehouse in the United States.
With Luke Leather — named after his young son — Davis said he has established a relationship with a reliable factory in southern Italy to offer well-tailored upholstery at competitive prices.
"We are initially focused on warehousing four to five bestselling silhouettes, but we look to eventually cultivate a container business as well," Davis said. "We're offering great pricing and good quality."
In his new role, he is the U.S. agent for an Italian manufacturer that hasn't distributed here until now. He declined to identify the factory.
Davis, a former sales representative in the Carolinas for Natuzzi, most recently operated Casapelle, a warehouse program for Italian upholstery.
He said he will capitalize on the strength of the Made in Italy moniker to promote and advertise the new line.
Luke Leather offers 90-inch casual and traditional stationary looks priced to retail from $999 to $1,299. The married sofa groups include traditional nailhead and urban themes, and one occasional chair/ottoman entry.
The warehousing program will target "the $2 million-to-$3 million volume guy looking to put all four frames on the floor, as well as the Top 100s," in states from the Midwest east.
Luke Leather offers 10-week delivery from Italy and two weeks from the warehouse.
The company doesn't plan to show at the April High Point market. Davis is hiring sales representatives for key territories. His e-mail address is lukeleather@bellsouth.net.
