Mebane, N.C. — Bedding maker Kingsdown is teaming up with fashion designer Oscar de la Renta on a licensed line of high-end mattresses.
The Personal Sleep line "will incorporate Mr. de la Renta's signature style with Kingsdown's century-long legacy of innovative sleep products," the company said in a statement.
The line will be available through interior designers and high-end furniture stores.
"I'm pleased to be teaming up with Kingsdown to unveil this exciting new technology," said de la Renta. "These mattresses combine both science and luxury to guarantee a quality night's rest."
Added Kingsdown CEO Eric Hinshaw, "Kingsdown has studied the science of sleep for many years. We know which sleep system will provide the best night's sleep for each individual."
The Personal Sleep line will feature a selection process that matches an individual with the best bed for his or her body, Kingsdown said.
The Oscar de la Renta Home program includes about 100 bedroom, dining room, occasional, upholstery and outdoor designs. Other licensees include Century Furniture, Rose Tree Linens for top-of-the-bed, Richard Ginori for tabletop, Elson & Co. for rugs, and Ankasa & Co. for decorative fabrics.
Kingsdown will use Rose Tree fabrics to upholster the box springs, offering a complete ensemble look.
