Podratsky leaves Simmons

Atlanta — Allen Podratsky, vice president of purchasing at Simmons and a key industry figure on the mattress flammability issue, has resigned from Simmons.

Podratsky was president of the industry's Sleep Products Safety Council and was involved in Simmons' fire-resistant mattress program.

Bob Hellyer, president of Simmons, said Tom Burns, vice president of manufacturing services at the company, will replace Podratsky on the SPSC board and will handle other duties related to the International Sleep Products Assn.
