Broyhill participating in WHFA forum
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 27, 2005
Las Vegas — Tom Broyhill, a member of a well-known furniture family, will take part in a Best Practices Forum on family-owned businesses at the Western Home Furnishings Assn.'s Fast Forward program here April 6.
Fast Forward is a new WHFA program designed to develop forward-thinking leaders in home furnishings retailing. It aims to prepare retailers to meet challenges and provide tools to help them succeed.
Broyhill is vice president of national, international and contract accounts at manufacturer Broyhill, a one-time family business that now is part of Furniture Brands International. He will take part in the forum with representatives of family-owned businesses, who will discuss their successful transitions from "kitchen-table management" to the modern, substantial enterprises they are today.
"Tom's participation in Fast Forward demonstrates that this kind of progressive program is not only wanted, but needed in the industry," said WHFA Executive Director Sharron Bradley.
Robert Wendover, director of the Center for Generational Studies, will serve as program facilitator. For nearly 20 years, Wendover has worked with organizations in industry, education and government on intergenerational challenges and other management issues.
Participation is limited, so WHFA encourages those interested to register while space is available.
Contact the WHFA online at www.whfa.org, by phone at (800) 422-3778, by fax at (916) 784-7697 or by mail at WHFA, Attn: Fast Forward, 500 Giuseppe Court, Suite 6, Roseville, Calif. 95678.
