Hooker taps Shaver for VP

Martinsville, Va. — In a move it says reinforces an increasing emphasis on marketing, manufacturer and importer Hooker Furniture has promoted Kim Shaver to vice president-marketing communications.

She joined the company in 2000 in the newly created post of director-marketing communications and brand manager.

"Over the past five years, with Kim's leadership, we have taken our marketing communications to a new level," said Paul Toms, Hooker chairman and CEO. He said Shaver will help the company "focus more of our efforts on marketing, branding and partnering with our retailers to 'sell through' our products to the consumers."

Before joining Hooker, Shaver worked at Furniture/To-day for 16 years as upholstery editor and later consumer editor.
