AICO to introduce office line at market

Pico Rivera, Calif. — AICO's new office furniture subsidiary, AICO Office Systems, will introduce its first product at next week's High Point market.
Offerings will include executive desks with returns and modular capabilities, as well as computer credenzas with multiple hutch tops, bookcases, lateral files and conference tables.
"We are coming out with eight contract furniture groups," said Chris Carter, director of AICO Office Systems. "Our initial designs will be based off existing AICO products. We have modified them design-wise and function-wise to work in the commercial office."
Carter joined AICO last year after 15 years with Steelcase. In High Point, AICO Office Systems will show in the International Home Furnishings Center, space G-782, next to the main AICO showroom.
The new division plans to distribute through existing AICO retailers and through contract retailers.
"Today's attorneys, doctors and many executives are looking for an office environment that is comparable to their home and reflects their personal image, since they usually spend more time at the office than at home," said Michael Amini, AICO founder and CEO. "Our products will provide these professionals with an environment that is not only equal to their achievements but is functional and stylish as well."
Pieces shown will have "AICO Motion" super-close hardware, a new mechanism for easier and quieter opening and closing of drawers and doors. Other features will include wiring and cable management.
The first office products are expected to ship in late fall. The company is building a new factory on 600 acres in China to accommodate the new division's requirements.
