Kingsdown has Oscar, Therapedic revamps latex

High Point — There is life beyond visco bedding in High Point mattress showrooms.
Kingsdown is making a splash in the celebrity category with its new Oscar de la Renta beds.The Personal Sleep line of bedding will showcase de la Renta's signature style.
De la Renta says the new line combines "both science and luxury to guarantee a quality night's rest."
Another Top 10 bedding producer, Therapedic, is showcasing its revamped and redesigned PureTouch line of latex bedding. The heart of that line is a seven-zone pure latex core that offers customized comfort for the different parts of the body.
"What we are doing is bringing latex into the core of the specialty sleep business and showing it as a mainstream bedding product," said Gerry Borreggine, Therapedic president.
There are four models in the new PureTouch line, retailing from $1,199 to $3,999.
Therapedic also is showing its fire-resistant Medicoil line, which targets key promotional price points ranging from $399 to $699.
Bedding major Simmons is not showing at this market. But its presence will be felt in the Boyd Specialty Sleep showroom, where Boyd, Simmons' licensee for specialty sleep products, is showing two new beds.
The LuxAire by Simmons Beautyrest airbed features a handheld, dual-control system that allows couples to customize their sleep surface. The Natural Spring by Simmons Beautyrest is a waterbed with fluid suspension cylinders that can be adjusted to customize the firmness.
Another producer with an airbed is Thurmo-Sleep USA, based in High Point. The company is introducing its Thurmo-Air line of air beds. Retails range from $899 to $1,599.
