Norcross, Ga. — The International Woodworking Machinery & Furniture Supply Fair has donated $9,750 to WoodLinks USA to support the organization's efforts to improve the education system's emphasis on and knowledge of the wood industry.
As a result of the donation, WoodLinks will aid more than 50 schools in raising their knowledge base of modern manufacturing and business plan issues. The goal is to train properly skilled, entry-level workers and to encourage graduates to consider a career in the industry.
"The wood industry badly needs skilled workers to maintain our competitiveness," said Keith Malmstadt. "The understanding of business plan fundamentals will be an important step in developing the new skilled worker of the future, one that will ensure that the U.S. wood industry stays in business a long time."
